CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Anna Troester, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, was crowned Iowa Holstein Princess at last week's Iowa Holstein Convention in Cedar Falls.

Troester grew up working on her parents, Mark and Rondee Troester's dairy farm near Garnavillo. When she finishes college, where she is majoring in animal science with a dairy emphasis and minoring in biology, she hopes to return to the farming operation.

Troester has extensive experience with dairy judging. She has been active in 4-H and Iowa Junior Holstein Association activities through showing, quiz bowl contests, jeopardy contests and conventions.

"My greatest accomplishments through the Iowa Holstein Association have been being named the Young Distinguished Junior Member and this year being named the Distinguished Junior Member," Troester said.

She was the 2005 Clayton County Dairy Princess and the 2006 Clayton County Fair Queen.

"Holstein cattle are my life and I have dedicated my time to them over the past 12 years and I want to continue to represent the industry as Iowa Holstein Princess," Troester said. "I believe that to have a successful Holstein industry we need to show the love and passion for those black and white or red and white girls that are in the barn producing the product we love."

Troester and her family milk 102 registered Holsteins.
